Coloured doors are becoming very popular again. The most popular colour seems to be variations of blue.
Magnet has taken to this new colour trend in the forms of Astral Blue and Appleby kitchens – both of which are very different but very beautiful.
While the Astral kitchen boasts a very modern acrylic slab door consisting of sleek straight lines, the Appleby contrasts as a contemporary classic painted shaker style door, with delicate features and curves. Both doors can cater to all design styles.
The Astral range of kitchens consists of the blue door, a cream door and accent panels in pear (a dark glossy wood grain). Each door look stunning designed individually, but use them together to create a unique design, and finish them with a simple white Corian worktop. Or be a little bold and use a chocolate coloured “Tierra” Quartz.
I am however a fan of the simple classic doors and the Appleby is my favourite. This kitchen is simply beautiful and timeless. I have designed this kitchen in many different ways from very country cottage to my preferred choice, which is giving it a modern twist with grey “Metalico” Quartz, Velvet glass cladding the walls, and a Tube bar handle. Wood/wood laminate worktops or flooring suit this kitchen also, my favourite being the Walnut, but oaks and beeches look great also.
Whichever kitchen takes your fancy you won’t be disappointed.

“There’s something really special about choosing a kitchen; it’s important to reflect your personality and your lifestyle. Astral Blue is the one for me as it combines my love of urban colour with sleek ordered materials and yet has all the personality to create a family friendly living space. It seems to effortlessly marry practical day-to-day activity with open-plan living, making it easy to shamelessly merge rustic wooden accessories with crystal chandeliers and get away with breaking any and every style rule.
“The steel blue high gloss is a gorgeous colour – the finish reminds me of a beautiful motor car but with the warmth of platinum which reflects light and maximises space. I love to combine surprising elements when designing a room, especially colour and material and Astral makes this easy: It looks equally fabulous teamed with stainless steel, white Corian or dark lounge-style walnut. Try designing yours with more than one work surface and add your own element of surprise with open shelving in a bright colour such as red or turquoise. I am going that extra mile by adding a run of four Astral blue wall cupboards in my lounge to create a wall hung media unit, topped with a dark walnut work surface. Or do I go mad and wrap the whole thing in white Corian?”
We understand the importance of having a kitchen that is practical and features the very latest in cutting edge design. Now Magnet has the solution to incorporate both.
So if you’re looking for a quality, hardwearing gloss finish…look no further. Magnet has introduced acrylic – a sleek yet robust design material.
Oozing European chic, the Astral Blue’s high-gloss door creates a truly stunning glass effect and is a shining example of an ultra-modern Magnet kitchen design.
To help maintain this dramatic yet glamorous look, acrylic is remarkably durable and therefore offers a practical cabinet solution for a busy working kitchen.
Acrylic kitchen cabinets are one of the glossiest currently available in the UK market and the iridescent finish refracts light in different directions to produce a stunning metallic effect.
With a beautiful finish, sleek acrylic frontals promise to be a talking point in any kitchen in 2013.
