Be Part of National Recyling Week with Insinkerator

24.06.2011

In case you didn’t know, this week has been Recycle Week with the theme ‘Recycling – Home and Away’.

Everyone knows that the various recycling categories are a little confusing and in light of the government’s u-turn on waste collections last week, it could be getting even more so. Rather than re-introducing weekly bin collections, homes will have to put food waste into slop buckets in the kitchen while their rubbish and recycling are picked up fortnightly.

Of course, having food sitting in your kitchen for two weeks isn’t going to keep well! Smells and bacteria are likely to appear pretty quickly so alternative waste disposal methods are pretty hot topics right now.

InSinkErator – the world’s largest producer of Food Waste Disposers (FWD) suggest one of their FWD models to combat some of the bin-inconvenience.

Ashley Munden, InSinkErator UK Sales and Marketing Director comments:

“The regular problems we are now facing with waste collection in the UK show how vital the need for a consistent waste management scheme is.

“InSinkErator food waste disposers offer families a viable alternative solution, enabling food waste to be flushed away through the standard plumbing systems, rather than ending up in landfill sites.

“If every household disposed of food with a waste disposal unit, then that waste could potentially be treated to provude new bio-gases at waste water treatment plants, providing an alternative energy source.”

So we’d be doing our bit for the environment as well, by ensuring food waste doesn’t end up in landfill sites!
